About Dr. Thomas Collins

Dr. Thomas Collins taught under graduate and graduate courses on leadership, lifelong learning and communications for the U.S. Department of Defense at military installations across the United States through Webster University, St. Louis and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

He served as director for professional development, Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), national headquarters, Alexandria, VA.  Society has 300,000 members in the U.S. and 165 other countries.  

He presented three lectures in Spanish for the medical staff, Psychiatric Institute of Colombia, Bogota.  His topics were psychology of the adult learner, addictions and recovery,  A Miami psychiatrist presented three lectures in Spanish on mental health topics at this same continuing education event.

He served as director for continuing education, Florida International University, Miami, FL. Programs conducted for business and industry in South Florida, the Caribbean and in Latin America.

Dr. Collins is a member of the Board of Directors for The FACE Project (TheFACEProject.org), providing curriculum for pre-K through fifth grade teachers and school counselors.  The FACE Project is a functional approach to character education. Subjects include respect for each other, problem-solving, cooperation, honesty, trust and integrity.  The organization was established in 1994 and is headquartered in Charlottesville, VA. 

He earned his PhD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the psychology of the adult learner and lifelong learning.  His undergraduate degree is in history. 

Dr. Collins began speaking about Custer and the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 2010.
